Aid Program

A standard of living adequate for physical, mental, spiritual, moral and social development is a basic and fundamental right of every child enshrined in the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Over the past century, humanity has experienced enormous economic, social, political, technological and medical transformations in an effort to ensure an adequate standard of living for all the world’s children. Unsurpassed and unprecedented by any other period in known human history, these transformations have revolutionised the lives of millions of children worldwide.

Many children now have access to the most basic of necessities including food, clean water, shelter, health services, education, and legal protection, and as such, many more children are able to grow and develop into healthy and productive adult members of society.

However, this situation has not been replicated in all countries throughout the globe. Nearly half of the world’s children, primarily residing in less developed nations, continue to survive on less than a dollar a day; while some children in more developed nations suffer the effects of poverty and deprivation.

These factors impede sustained access to adequate food, shelter, clothing, and medical items – which arguably are necessities essential to the healthy development of any child.

The A.R.C. Worldwide Trust realises children can reach their full potential as human beings, if their most basic needs are catered for and they are provided with an adequate standard of living, in the first instance.

Consequently, this forms the focus of the Aid Program. We are dedicated to ensuring the most basic needs of underprivileged or deprived children, are provided. We visit children in orphanages, children’s homes and other situations; assess their ability to have their basic needs met; and, where a need is not adequately catered for, we endeavour to provide this within our capacities.

To date, the following homes, institutions and organisations have benefitted to varying extents, from our Aid Program:
