Missionaries of Charity

The Mother Teresa Missionaries of Charity runs homes in nearly all major cities throughout India. In May 2007, staff from the A.R.C. Worldwide Trust visited the Missionaries of Charity home for children in Delhi, as part of our Awareness Program. At the time of the visit, the home was under renovation, and the children were residing at another of the Missionaries of Charities homes for destitute people in a nearby suburb - which is one of six such residences run by the Missionaries of Charity in Delhi.

The Missionaries of Charity is a home for children between the ages of 1 week and 3 years. The home has capacity for approximately 70 children, and at the time of our visit the home had one room full of children less than 15 days old, another room full of children from the age of 16 days to approximately three to four months, and a further room for the older toddlers. All of the children residing in the home are available for adoption, and enquiries regarding adoption can be directed to the Missionaries of Charity, who are authorised for adoptions.

Volunteers are always welcome at the home to assist with various tasks and provide care to the children. The Missionaries of Charity do not advertise or seek funding, but rather relies solely on volunteer donations to run the various homes throughout the country. Consequently, financial donations, food and clothing are always gratefully accepted.

If you would like more information or to make a donation to the Missionaries of Charity home for children in Delhi, please contact the home directly.
