The paper concludes with a description of some international agreements aimed at reducing/eliminating child labour.

This opinion article provides an overview of some factors impacting children around the globe - from child prostitution, child slavery, and child killings. In a thought-provoking fashion, the article questions why the Convention on the Rights of the Child does not appear to be benefitting all children in countries where it has been ratified; why the priorities of modern governments tend to be focussed on everything but the well-being of our children; and why the humanity is not doing more on a global scale to invest in the lives of our children.
